Create by looking beyond the boundaries into the human future AkasiArtStudio was opened in as an independent exhibition space and creative studio of Olga Akasi, the Kyiv artist of classical direction.
Basic kind of activity of the studio and Olga Akasi the artist is a classical portrait in the best traditions of Old Masters.
The gallery presents works by Olga Akasi and it is a ground for meetings with the artist and her partners. In the same time it is a place where the person who would like to be portrayed by Olga Akasi has sittings for personal portrait. AkasiArtStudio it is also small private academy where masterworks with students, mainly adults, who would like to perfect their skills in fine art. Today not many painters have desire and will to develop and deepen traditions of Old Masters.
Therefore her artwork herself is already avant-guarde on the background of the present state of painting. On the one hand, Olga Akasi explains her appeal to a portrait by professional search of quite not easy creative ways. On the other hand, she elucidates it by personal aspiration to a phenomenon of Person. On her pictures we can see the images of the person, who is not real, but is the ideal person, which is conceivable in creative imagination.
Her paintings are completed in philosophy-poetical portrait. Studied the manner of Durer, Tizian, Rembrandt, etc. Also in the museums of Japan. How would you define yourself as an artist? I am a master. I work in the technology of old masters, without being neither the restorer, nor the museum worker. I think myself the keeper of old academic traditions and the manner of Old Masters. Why are you an artist, and when did you first become one?
In my childhood, I lived in the house which was between two largest museums of the state. It probably has defined my destiny. What themes do you pursue? Human life. The person is interesting to me. Mainly I am the portraitist. What inspires you to work? My inspiration is complexity in art like in mountaineering. My inspiration is ascension on the peak of my professional skill. For how long have been in art?
How did you start? The beginning of public art activity is about Would you tell us some things about yourself? Japan fascinated and astonished me, when I lived in Tokyo and Kyoto. I have been invited as the master of painting by connoisseur of art.
I am especially surprised reverential approach and interest of the public of this country to culture, to fine arts, in particular to the European classical painting. Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in myself and in great models of painting of old masters. What are you trying to communicate with your art? And what is your personal aim as an artist? To be the master. To reach perfection. What experience of your life would you say that is reflected in your works of art..
Or, as Hemingway wrote, to do what doesn't spoil from time. How do you cultivate a collector base? There is a circle of people who like my painting. Others want to order portraits, as a rule, family portraits. These are not portraits according to the photo, but personal contact, posing, a conversation. If you had an exclusive collective exhibition with other artists work, who would you choose?
With old masters of the European painting. And in my imagination I do it constantly, comparing my creativity to their creativity. Should art be funded? Art can be financed, but only on condition of freedom of creative aspirations. If money is dictatorship, then it not creativity, not free flight anymore. Therefore if art is financed, then the consensus of two parties has to be obligatory. What famous artists have influenced you, and how? Because they created not for the sake of immediacy.
Because they created sub specie aeternitatis under the aspect of eternity. This philosophical category is important for me. What other interests do you have outside of art? In general travel in mountains. And again mountains, backpack, tent. What do you see as the strengths of your pieces, visually or conceptually? Visually and poetic spirituality. What aspect of your work do you pay particular attention to? Face, eyes, model psychology, color, composition. What role does the artist have in society?
There is no role. The artist has refused that role which he carried out in the past. Now the artist became the seller and the consumer among all other sellers and consumers. Today very few artists dare to be truly free and independent of the imposed opinion of the public dominating criteria. How would your life change if you were no longer allowed to create art? What do you think about the art community and market?
I have a partner of AkasiArtstudio, here he thinks. Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? But first of all I dream to make one of the main projects of my life — the set of works on motive classical japanese novel Gendzi-monogatari by Murasaki Shikibu. I am the supporter of tradition and not only European painting and the Old Masters, but also the Japanese literature accessible to me in russian translations.
I would like to create some images from Gendzi-monogatari by oil on a canvas by means sfumato in which da Vinci worked. Just as Kurosawa has made his own vision version of King Lyre by Shakespeare. In realization of this idea I would like to connect the Japanese and European culture in space of my pictures.
Stefan Zweig. Share something you would like the world to know about you? There is an opinion of others that I am very good teacher of painting. I have my own private academy of painting and drawing.
The world of art and culture is interesting to me as an artist. There is a big variety in the choice of subjects, and it pleases. Captivating, highly influential! Tags: 'Discovery' ,? December 8, by Laura Gomez.
