Mar 08, Owlseyes rated it really liked it. Rector's Pupils The Rector Pupils, a novel by Julio Dinis published in , tells the story of the return of a young unconscious to the village where he was born. Once there arrived, falls for the bride's brother, which triggers a series of adventures.

The amorous adventures of Daniel clash with the lives of two orphaned, Clara and Daisy, delivered to the care of village rector. In short, The Pupils of Rector translates the Portuguese rural life of the time. A book written with the simplicity Mr. It amazed me to think that Julio Dinis had a premature death he had only 31 and even so wrote so many good classics.

A very quiet depiction of life in the countryside in midth century Portugal. It tells the story of two brothers, sons of a local farmer, and two sisters who become orphans. While the ending was fairly easy to guess, the best part is Dinis's writing, he makes you want to go visit this nameless village and meet the various characters.

One of the advantages of having a short memory for book plots is that I can re-read beloved books without having any spoilers and re-enjoying them as if it was my first time read!! And make me realise how little was expected of women! There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Readers also enjoyed. Related Articles. What Happened to Offred?
