Richard Brereton and his coworkers have been pioneers of chemometrics over the past twenty five years. Chemometrics is the science of extracting information from chemical systems by data-driven means. It is a highly interfacial discipline, using methods frequently employed in core data-analytic disciplines such as multivariate statistics, applied mathematics, and computer science, in order to address problems in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, biology and chemical engineering. This includes seven books, three of them co edited and four authored. From early beginnings chemometrics has moved to a major recognised subject with its own conferences, journals and textbooks. Chemometrics has developed from a very theoretical science in the s to a very practical and diverse one in the s, spanning a huge variety of different areas.
